Free Sketches!
That’s right! As a special, add-on Kickstarter bonus for my sketchbook, One Year After, I’m now doing free, customized 8x10 inked sketch, beginning at the $25 pledge level on up! So, merely for buying the book, all my backers will receive a sketch with their choice of subject matter.
As most of you know, this is the first time I’ve offered this, anywhere. As of this this writing, we have just surpassed the 50% mark of our $5,000 project goal. The project will close on Feb. 9th at 11:00, Pacific time in the U.S.
Here’s the link: www.kickstarter.com/projects/2…
Help to make this book a reality! Some people may think that $5,000 is a lot of money to produce a book, but this is not for just printing the book, it is also for printing the reward material. And then, the Kickstarter people take a percentage, Amazon takes a percentage (the funding goes through them), the U.S. government takes taxes, and since I’m offering free shipping within the U.S. (including possessions and territories), as you can quickly see, I’ll be doing the layout and production work (not to mention the actual art) “on my own time.” That’s okay. It’s never been my goal to become rich off of this project, just to produce a great book!
There are lots and lots of rewards. Besides the customized sketch, at different pledge levels, you’ll be getting twelve greeting cards (sketches #132-143), as well as this color, limited-edition print, Position of Power:
And then there is Set One, Girls of Modern China:
Also, Set Two, Girls of Ancient China:
I am also offering a very rare, older portfolio of five prints called Elder Wood, which was produced in 2006 which features 5 ink drawings, all in a wrap around folder. At the higher pledge levels, you get all of the above, plus two other books that I wrote, designed, or produced.
Finally, there are some original pieces of art up at the highest levels! So, all in all for $180 a person could walk away with three books, 14 prints, twelve greeting cards, and, a customized 8x10 ink sketch! I don’t think you can find a deal like that, anywhere!
Go by and take a look. Watch the video. Check out the information. Pledge, then spread the word, because the more people who see it, the more likely it will be to get funded. Let folks know here on DA, other social media that you belong to, word-of-mouth, texting…however you connect to your friends and family.
Thanks so much in advance. I’d really like to see this book produced, because the work is already finished, and I think it would be great to get it all into the hands of people who love ink as much as I do!

Primitive Road
As we work our way firmly into 2017, I wanted to say "thanks" to everyone who has strolled in and viewed the gallery, faving a piece or making a comment. A special thanks to those who decided to watch the gallery, as it is the best way to keep up with new images. It is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, time constraints and sheer numbers prohibit me from thanking you individually, as I would want to do.
A few new pieces have been planned out in various stages, and will make their appearances periodically, Also, a project has began to take shape, at least in arraignment. Design hasn't entered in yet, as I'll be gathering all the inform
Past and Future Tales
Today, I was organizing some files (mostly to do with art and sketches), and came across Rebekah (left), which was done in 1997 (for Imagine Role Playing's Character Handbook). Having the file for my latest "portrait" piece, Back in Town (right), close by, I compared the two. BiT was my first ink piece for 2016. With almost 20 years between the two images, there are many similarities in regards to portraying the character, however, there are major differences in how the characters are being portrayed.
Much thanks to all who visit my galleries, who watch (and wait for new work), and for those who decide to add my images to their collect
I Wonder...
I love looking at digital artwork, however, there seems to be a trend of sorts.
Is it me, or is a lot of digitally produced art starting to look the same? I'm sure there is different stuff out there, but over and over I see the same character types in the same character poses, surrounded by muted, dark, fuzzy backgrounds. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places. Any suggestions?

October Surprised: A DD!
I haven’t been active for a while, mainly because it's been busy, busy, busy! The last nine months have been spent producing and mailing out my sketch book, One Year After, finishing up the customized sketches as part of the fulfillment promise for the Kickstarter campaign, and doing a lot of ink experimentation. In addition, my wife and step-son finally got their permanent resident cards and have immigrated from China, so since August, I’ve been getting them acclimated to life in the U.S.
I have, however, been stalking behind the scenes, looking at new work posted, reading journals, and keeping plugged into the community (albeit
