I love old tales, and enjoy listening to a seasoned orator deliver stories and ballads in front of a crackling hearth; the cadence of word and off-set rhyme bridging the gap with those who have made history before us.

This one is for the storyteller.

And all this time I thought that 'I' was a fanatic when it came to meticulous linework. giadrosich is in a league ALL his own. His gallery blew my mind! Einion's comment to me when suggesting giadrosich was that his work reminded her 'of some of Bernie Wrightson's work maybe with a hint of Barry Windsor-Smith thrown in.' I absolutley agree. The first thing that came to mind when viewing his art was Wrightson's 'Frankenstein' work. The second thing that came to mind was 'stunning'! I love all of the different textures in this picture. Is that a fur cloak done with the crosshatching? Outstanding! The only thing I see, that will probably be remedied with color, is that her hands kind of get lost in all the detail and tattoo designs. Awesome ink work...regardless.

Beautiful.....amazing detail and I could not even imagine the time spent on this.

Your detail work is simply amazing. I love the combo of cross-hatching and stippling that you use to create your textures. I'd say this is one of my favs within your gallery, with the exception of the bottom right corner... it looks unfinished, since it lacks the great detail of the rest of the piece. But other than that, very very nice job. I would love to see this piece colored, as you mentioned in your description. Not sure if you are still working on that or not, but I would still like to see it. :+fav: :D

Thanks so much for your comments!
I 'm steadily working on the color version (that, and around 5 other things, lol!!). What's not apparent in this scan, since I didn't include the boarder of Storyteller, is that the urn at the bottom right hand side cuts out of the frame, becoming more of a graphic element in the composition. It's an old trick to break up the lines of the frame a little and brings the viewer into the picture.

Thanks once again!! :D

I wish I could take a microscope to this so I could see all the detail! This baby, like all your stuff, has a lot of love and talent put into it. I really enjoy your combination of techniques. It is readily apparent that you have a real mastery over your materials. While I'm sure that you'd say you still have a lot to learn, you have a great maturity to your work that is unmistakable.

I flirt with fine art. She tells me that she's not that kind of girl, and I tell her that's because she needs one more drink.
