As an artist, there are many things which capture my imagination, such as mood, lighting, and texture. Recently, when I was looking through the gallery of fellow Deviant Janne-Landet, the image entitled Wind caught my eye.

While I don’t make it a habit of re-interpreting established photographs, and while she already maintains a gallery of delightful stock images, I knew that I had to draw “Wind.” Thankfully, when I inquired about permission to do so, she graciously consented.

Because I prefer to shoot my own reference, I had to ask myself, “Why do you want to draw this?” Perhaps it’s the mood of the piece. Maybe it had to do with the lighting. Of course, the textural detail was alluring.
I finally realized that, while it is all these reasons, and many more, I also think it had something to do with a shared love for the same music. Hence, the name, "Stolen Child."

I am head-over-heels in love with this composition--you did a beautiful job! And, while I really like your style, there is something about this one that really speaks to me. I think it is in the mood, the lighting, and the textural detail, as you indicated, but there is a powerful and interesting rhythm here that really draws the viewer into it in a gut-wrenching way, like finding your foot tapping to the beat of music in the background. If this is how you visually interpret music, my friend, you are a master at it and should do more...

An achingly wonderful piece!

gorgeous. I like how you change the photograph enough to bring out your own qualities, but still left it recognizably created from the original image. good job.
