I've been reading manga for a number of years, and enjoy many of the different styles and approaches that the art form takes. Finally, around September of 2006, I had enough time in-between other projects to try and do some of my own. Knowing that the work would be colored in Photoshop, I wanted to simplify things quite a bit, so I layed down the most basic linework that I could. I must admit, it was not an easy task for one who is used to defining texture and shadow with ink alone. This is the first piece that came out of those sessions. I don't get a lot of practice doing coloration on the computer, so please excuse what are obviously "beginner's follies." I realize I still have a lot to learn, and other artists who consistently delve into the medium here on DA are a great encouragement as I view what they have done. Although manga really isn't my kinda thing, I really like how you've approached this. It's manga, but it's still your style which is great.
The colouring is fab. I've never really been able to get a hang of cel-style colouring in photoshop, but you've nailed it
